What is your favorite place to go for dinner? If I inquire of my children they will unanimously scream for some fast food restaurant or pizza joint. But I’m more about having a heart healthy diet for myself and my family. I don’t mind the occasional journey to the unhealthy joints that my children love. However, I tend to keep them on a heart healthy diet and include lots of outside time with exercise and movement.

Obesity has become a global epidemic because of out of control eating at fast food establishments. She has gotten tummy aches because most of her food is prepared at home. Her body wasn’t used to the level of grease and fat served in that one small box. Now that was no fun for either of us.

Most doctors encourage their patients to eat anywhere else often commenting that fast food is horrible for a growing child and a heart healthy diet plan. Since our family only hits the fast food restaurants a few times a year, her body rejected it.

Basically, it’s just poison and so detrimental. It’s against any heart healthy diet plan you might envision. Not to be insulting, but have you noticed that overweight parents eating in fast food restaurants have overweight children. That’s not something I’d want to pass on. They are responsible for providing heart healthy diets for their children. There is not that much rushing in the world and to not provide it is detrimental in the extreme in the long run.

Nowadays, since obesity and all of it’s resultant diseases associated with it have reached epidemic proportions, everyone should be cognizant of where they stop and what they eat.  More so, if you  have children, but don’t discount your own body out. The fact is we choose what we consume, too. With that said, heart healthy diets mean you can choose a salad instead of fries and a burger. Fast food burgers aren’t even real, I think, but maybe that’s just me.

It’s time to treat ourselves better and stop being lazy or in denial about being healthy. Believe me, it’s never too soon or too late to start a heart healthy diet. You should start your little ones in the right direction or get them going in the right direction if you’ve been lax. This way they will at least know what they should be eating.

Things you want to avoid in a heart healthy diet frame of mind is meals with loads of fat, sugar and cholesterol. There are so many supplements and substitutions you can use to fool your body into believing it’s getting that sugar or carb fix. Get on the vitamin and supplement band wagon and watch your energy and health increase. As part of a heart healthy diet you don’t need to overdo it; however, research has provided so much information about what will help you and your family to live long happy lives, it would be silly to ignore all that info.

In a heart healthy diet, you want to focus more on protein, minerals, vitamins and calcium. These are the building blocks for living a long and healthy life. If you want to have happy, active children, start planning what you and they eat. Plan your meals a bit more strategically and utilize all that technology and information to your advantage. That’s basically what it means to be utilizing a heart healthy diet plan.
