Do you sometimes get bored with your
aerobic exercise? Do You sometimes
feel like you’re not getting the results
you should from your aerobic exercise?
If so, then aerobic cross-training is
for you.
Aerobic cross-training refers to using
two to three different types of aerobic
exercise during an exercise session. For
example, if you plan to exercise for 60
minutes, you might start with 20 minutes
of walking or jogging, followed by 20
minutes of biking, and finish with 20
minutes of rowing.
Now, please don’t get the impression that
you have to be in great shape to do this
or that it has to be 60 minutes long.
You can start with something as simple
as a ten minute walk followed by ten
minutes with an exercise video. This is
cross-training too. You can gradually
build up from there.
Here are some of the exercises you can
use in your cross-training program;
walking, jogging, biking, rowing, stair
climbing, swimming, exercise videos, etc.
Any combination of aerobic exercises
will do. You simply go from one to the
next with very little time between
them.
Aerobic cross-training is beneficial to
you in several ways:
1. It provides variety which eliminates
the monotony often associated with doing
the same exercise for a long period of
time.
2. If your exercise sessions are
less monotonous and more enjoyable, you
are much more likely to exercise more
often and for longer periods of time.
3. You are less prone to over-use
injuries that sometimes occur from
doing the same exercise movements over
and over again.
4. You tone more muscles because you are
using more muscles. For example, walking
tones mostly the lower body muscles and
rowing tones upper body muscles also. Even
exercises like walking and biking that
both tone lower body muscles, tone them
at different angles and each tones some
small muscles that the other doesn’t.
5. Aerobic conditioning is very specific
to the muscles being worked. For example,
you can walk ten miles a day and still be
somewhat breathless after climbing stairs
because you haven’t trained the muscles
for that specific movement. Aerobic
cross-training allows you to develop
more comprehensive aerobic training.
6. Aerobic cross-training is effective
for weight loss because your are toning
and training the fat-burning systems
of more of your muscles. It turns more
of your muscles into 24-hour fat-burning
machines! You are also more likely to
exercise on a regular basis and for longer
periods of time. this also promotes
weight loss and fitness.

Aerobic workouts are an effective way to control your weight, exercise your heart, strengthen your muscles and just make you feel healthier. It can also help you live a longer, healthier life and enhance your well being.
Aerobic workouts are any exercise that helps your body use oxygen more efficiently. This is done by increasing your heart rate and breathing harder for an extended period of time.
Regular aerobic activity can increase your ability to take in and transport that oxygen improving your aerobic capacity.
A regular aerobic routine gives your heart the kind of workout that helps it do a better job of delivering oxygen to all your organs. It makes your heart more efficient and stronger.
When you raise your heart rate your body begins to used stored carbohydrates and fatty acids for energy. That boosts your mood, helps you with weight loss and can even lower your blood sugar levels.
Aerobic activity makes you feel better about yourself so you can enjoy life more. It can also help increase your stamina and even help you manage stress.
A session of exercise and cardiovascular fitness can help you relax after a stressful day at work and help you sleep better at night. When you exercise, the brain releases endorphins that put you in a better mood so you feel good.
As we get older, if you maintain a regular aerobic exercise routine your muscles will stay stronger and help you avoid fractures and falls. This helps keep you independent for a longer period of time. People who exercise on a regular basis live longer than those who don’t.
If you think aerobic activity has to be expensive, think again. If you don’t belong to a gym or have a exercise machine at home, try taking a brisk walk, swimming laps, riding a bicycle or even go out dancing. Any activity that raises the heart rate for at least 20 minutes is considered aerobic.
Life is meant to be enjoyed. Exercise can help you live longer, stay healthier and feel great. The benefits of regular aerobic workouts are not just good for weight loss but good for your body, your mind and even your soul.

Are you looking for some inside information on fitness? Here’s an up-to-date report from fitness experts who should know.
During the course of your growing up years, you lived wherever your parents chose to live. You didn’t give any thought to the health implications of the location your parents chose, or if they had chosen a place that was conducive to your overall wellness. Chances are your parents didn’t give it much thought either. Not until recently, has there ever been given any thought to the fact that where you live affects your health and wellness. But it does, and it’s a piece of information that is sure to influence many generations to come.
So how is this information compiled, and what can we learn from it? The information is compiled based on statistical information from areas such as smog levels, pollution levels, water quality, government based fitness incentives, and recreational and fitness facilities available. Generally, one of the major magazines published in the United States, will compile all this statistical data, and publish an article as a recreational guide to healthy cities.
What do we learn from all this published information? That where we live really does affect our health and well-being, and sometimes, there’s very little we can do about changing that fact. Unless, of course, you want to move.
Often, the greatest contributor to our health and wellness, via our outside environment, is the level of pollution we’re forced to live with on a daily basis. How do we absorb pollutants in our outside environment? The most common way is through the air we breathe. It is not the only way, however. The water we drink, the homes we live in, and the cars we drive, all have the potential for unhealthy contaminants.
You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about fitness. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.
Our work environment at one time was a contributor to the pollutants we were exposed to, but thanks to greater Environmental Protection regulation, most of those dangers have been eradicated.
Past the pollutants contribution, the availability of health facilities, the amount of government support for health and fitness, and the availability of medical faculties also affects our health and wellness from a location standpoint. If you live in a rural area with no direct access to health facilities, and there is no medical facility, your level of overall health will not compare to that of a person who lives in a more populated area that can offer those things. The down side to the more populated area, of course, is a greater risk of air pollution.
Some areas of this country are just fitness conducive. Places where the air is still free from pollutants, there is an availability of hiking, biking, and walking trails, and the medical and fitness facilities are numerous. The problem with most of those places, however is that they are usually recreational based, not manufacturing or otherwise industrialized, and jobs are not that numerous
What can you do about your own fitness concerns, in relation to where you live? Make the most of where you are. Educate yourself about the greatest fitness problems in your area, and do what you can to make corrections for your own fitness benefit.
Is there really any information about fitness that is nonessential? We all see things from different angles, so something relatively insignificant to one may be crucial to another.

Getting Allergy Treatments
Filed Under Allergies | Leave a Comment
Many people are afflicted with some type of allergy to all sorts of things, such as environmental allergens, odors, fumes, food, and cigarette smoke just to name a few. If symptoms become uncomfortable and happen on a routine basis, then allergy treatment and testing may be in order. With food allergies and small children, the process of elimination is the best way to determine which food is causing the allergic reaction. Allergy testing methods such as skin testing and blood testing are effective, but some people may respond better to one than the other. Food allergies for instance show up better on blood testing, but if you know you?re allergic to a certain food, wouldn?t you just not eat it?
Environmental allergies are a little trickier. Consider all the possible triggers; weeds, trees, pollens, grasses, dust, dust mites, molds, pet dander, chemical fumes, and cigarette smoke are all popular offenders. Skin allergy testing is the best method to use for diagnosis of these types of allergies if severe enough to warrant this approach. Allergy treatment can then be prescribed based on the level of reaction to certain irritants. Not everyone with allergies has to seek help from a specialist. There are quite a few over-the-counter medications that are very effective in treating symptoms, but if this doesn?t work, then a professional should be consulted. Many times allergies are present with other conditions such as eczema and asthma, and should be evaluated in conjunction to allergy treatment since they all go hand in hand. By treating allergies, related conditions will resolve themselves or lessen significantly as allergy treatment progresses.
Prescribed allergy treatment usually consists of immunotherapy, better known as allergy shots, which expose allergy sufferers to tiny amounts of the offending allergens in gradually increased doses that over time decrease symptoms. Of course, substances that cause severe allergic reactions, such as certain foods (shellfish, eggs, peanuts) and bee stings should be avoided completely. Avoidance is the only allergy treatment in this case, aside from using an Epi-Pen and/or Benadryl in case an accidental exposure occurs. Different allergy treatments and combinations thereof may have to be tried before significant relief occurs. Over time allergies decrease and may eventually disappear requiring less allergy treatment. There are quite a few online resources you can check out about allergy treatments like www.allergies.about.com, www.medicinenet.com, or www.drgreene.com where an abundance of information about allergy treatments is right at your fingertips.

Allergy Cures
Filed Under Allergies | Leave a Comment
Allergies can bring discomfort and misery to your everyday life. Many people who suffer from the affliction are seeking allergy cures to relieve the symptoms they experience. In order to properly address allergy problems, it is necessary to try and determine what causes your symptoms in the first place.
Common causes are pet dander, mold, dust and outdoor elements like pollen. Once you determine what is behind your symptoms it is easier to find possible allergy cures to try. Some have found over the counter medications to be very helpful. Others find relief after visiting a specialist. Then again, some find no relief at all.
For those who can not seem to find any relief from commonly used allergy cures, homeopathy may be a viable option. Homeopathy is an all-natural approach to medicine and health that is the subject of some argument and controversy. Some argue that homeopathy is a hoax and no allergy cures can possible be found through natural elements. Others swear that they have experienced instant relief from their symptoms through homeopathic remedies.
Some of the symptoms include congestion, headaches and colds. These symptoms often evolve into more severe conditions like bronchitis and pneumonia. For people who face the symptoms and the more severe conditions on a daily basis, finding allergy cures is crucial to their health and general well-being.
Traditional methods that the medical community often uses to address allergy symptoms include painful shots, medications that leave the patient groggy and miserable and even surgery in severe cases. These traditional methods of treating allergy symptoms are quite disheartening to many people who want to find allergy cures without using medication or taking shots. No one really wants to undergo surgery but many do to find some relief.
Homeopathy methods suggest that the allergy cures lie in the substances that cause the allergic reactions in the first place. The substances are diluted and introduced to the body in small doses. This enables the body to create the proper antibodies to ward off the abrasive substances successfully without producing an allergic reaction.
The process is quite similar to getting a vaccine. When we get a vaccination shot, we are actually injecting the virus or threatening substance into our systems. The weakened substances are introduced to our systems in small doses that can be fought off by our immune systems. Once our bodies demonstrate that they can fight the virus, we are immune. Since homeopathy follows the general logic we use behind vaccines, it probably is worth a try.

Boosting Your Metabolism
Filed Under Boost Metabolism | Leave a Comment
In the quest to lose weight, you may think of eating right and exercising. These are the two most important things to do. If you go about this in the right way, these things will work together in boosting your metabolism. When this happens, you will burn more fat, and your energy levels will rise.
For those who have a lot of weight to lose, boosting your metabolism can be achieved by taking a short walk each day. If you have been highly immobile do to injury or poor exercise habits, start out with just ten or fifteen minutes of walking. This is a great first step towards boosting your metabolism. As you begin to lose weight, you will have to do a bit more. Add some time to your walks, and consider adding some aerobic activity to your day at least three days a week. This will further boost your metabolism and keep the weight coming off.
For those who only have a relatively low number of pounds to lose, boosting your metabolism will be harder to do, but it is possible. You will have to exercise enough to get your heart rate elevated for more than ten minutes. Eating smaller meals throughout the day instead of just three larger meals can also help in boosting your metabolism. The thought is that your metabolism is raised whenever your body is digesting food. If you eat smaller, more frequent meals, you can keep your metabolism running at a higher rate.
Lifting weights will help in boosting your metabolism whether you are male or female. Women often skip this because they fear their muscles will get too big and they will look bulky. This is not the case, however, as male and female bodies are different. Men bulk up while women remain lean.
There are times when people turn to supplements that are made specifically for boosting your metabolism. Be very careful with this, and talk to your doctor before starting any new exercise, eating plan, or supplement. There may be repercussions to your health that you have not considered. Study up on any ingredients before you start a new supplement, and make sure you know what you are getting into. Many will work to some degree, but the side effects can range from uncontrollable jitters to a nauseous feeling, or worse.
No matter what route you take when boosting your metabolism, make your health your number one priority. If you begin supplements and something just doesn?t feel right, discontinue and talk to your doctor to make sure you are still healthy, and on the right track in your weight loss efforts.
